StudyCAT (“studyCAT,” “we,” “our,” or “us”) provides an AI-powered academic support platform designed to help college students manage schedules, organize coursework, prepare for exams, and improve executive functioning. This Privacy Policy explains how studyCAT collects, uses, stores, shares, and protects personal information, including information obtained through Google services when a user chooses to connect a Google account.

This Privacy Policy applies to the studyCAT website, web application, and related services available through studycat.ai and any other studyCAT services that link to this Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Collect

We may collect the following categories of information:

A. Information you provide directly

  • Name
  • Email address
  • Account login credentials
  • School, course, and class information
  • Academic schedules, assignments, exams, and study plans
  • Files and materials you upload, such as syllabi, class notes, study guides, recordings, or other educational content
  • Messages, prompts, and other content you submit while using StudyCAT
  • Support requests and communications you send to us

C. Google user data, if you choose to connect Google services

If you authorize studyCAT to access your Google account, we may collect and process Google user data necessary to provide the features you request, such as:

  • Basic Google account profile information, such as name and email address
  • Google Calendar data, such as calendar names, events, event times, and related metadata
  • Other Google workspace data only if you explicitly authorize access and only to the extent required for the user-facing feature you choose to use

We only request access to Google user data that is reasonably necessary to provide or improve studyCAT’s user-facing functionality. Google requires privacy policies to clearly disclose what Google user data is collected, how it is used, shared, protected, and retained.

2. How We Use Information

We use personal information to:

  • Create and manage your account
  • Provide the StudyCAT service and its user-facing features
  • Help you organize classes, schedules, assignments, and exams
  • Generate study recommendations, reminders, summaries, and academic planning support
  • Process uploaded files and educational materials so they can be used within the product

  • Communicate with you about your account, updates, support, and service issues

Use of Google user data

If you connect Google services, we use Google user data only to provide or improve user-facing features you request, such as:

  • Importing or displaying calendar events
  • Helping you plan study sessions around your schedule
  • Enabling calendar-based reminders or coordination features

We do not use Google user data for:

  • Selling data to third parties
  • Targeted advertising
  • Data brokerage
  • Creditworthiness, lending, or insurance decisions
  • Building unrelated data profiles
  • Training generalized AI models unrelated to providing StudyCAT’s user-facing features

Google’s verification guidance specifically prohibits using Google user data for targeted advertising, resale, or unrelated AI model training.

3. How We Share Information

We do not sell personal information or Google user data.

We may share information only in the following limited circumstances:

  • Service providers and subprocessors that help us host, operate, secure, and support StudyCAT, such as cloud hosting, database, analytics, authentication, storage, and customer support providers
  • Integrated services that you direct us to connect to
  • Legal and compliance purposes if required by law, regulation, court order, or valid legal process
  • Business transfers in connection with a merger, acquisition, financing, or sale of assets, subject to appropriate confidentiality and legal safeguards

Any sharing of Google user data is limited to what is necessary to operate or improve the specific studyCAT feature you requested. We do not transfer Google user data to third parties for advertising or other unrelated commercial purposes. Google requires these disclosures to be explicit in the privacy policy.

4. Data Storage and Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and organizational safeguards designed to protect personal information against unauthorized access, loss, misuse, alteration, or disclosure. These measures may include:

  • Encryption in transit
  • Access controls and authentication protections
  • Logging and monitoring
  • Role-based access restrictions
  • Secure cloud infrastructure and storage practices

No system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security. However, we take commercially reasonable steps to protect your information and reduce risk.

Google’s guidance expects privacy policies to disclose security measures used to protect sensitive data, including Google user data.

5. Data Retention

We retain personal information for as long as reasonably necessary to:

  • Provide the StudyCAT service
  • Maintain your account
  • Support legitimate business and operational needs
  • Comply with legal, tax, accounting, and regulatory obligations
  • Resolve disputes and enforce agreements

We retain Google user data only for as long as needed to provide the authorized feature, unless a longer retention period is required by law. If Google data is no longer needed for the authorized feature, we will delete it or de-identify it within a reasonable period, subject to legal obligations and backup retention cycles.

Google expects privacy policies to include disclosures about retention and deletion.

6. Your Choices and Controls

Depending on your location and how you use StudyCAT, you may have the ability to:

  • Access, update, or correct your account information
  • Disconnect Google integrations
  • Request deletion of your account or certain data
  • Manage cookies or browser settings
  • Opt out of non-essential communications

If you disconnect a Google integration, StudyCAT will stop accessing new Google user data through that connection. Previously retrieved data may remain in our systems for a limited period as necessary to complete requested services, maintain backups, comply with law, or protect the integrity of the service.

7. Deleting Your Data

You may request deletion of your studyCAT account and associated personal information by contacting us at admin@studycat.ai or through any in-product deletion tools we make available.

When you request deletion:

  • We will delete or de-identify your personal information within a reasonable time, subject to legal, security, fraud prevention, and backup-related exceptions
  • We will stop further access to your connected Google data after disconnection or deletion
  • Some limited information may be retained where required by law or for legitimate security, compliance, or dispute-resolution purposes

8. Children’s Privacy

StudyCAT is intended for college students and other users who are old enough to consent to the use of the service under applicable law. studyCAT is not intended for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without appropriate authorization.

9. International Data Transfers

If you access studyCAT from outside the country where our systems are located, your information may be transferred to and processed in other jurisdictions. Where required, we take steps designed to ensure appropriate safeguards are in place for such transfers.

10. Third-Party Services and Links

StudyCAT may contain links to third-party websites or services. This Privacy Policy does not apply to third-party websites, apps, or services that we do not control. We encourage you to review their privacy policies before providing information to them.

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make material changes to how we use personal information or Google user data, we will update the “Last Updated” date and provide notice as required by law or through the studyCAT website or application.

Google requires that privacy policies remain current and that users are notified if app data practices change.
